3rd Shift Jockey Driver (Yard Jockey)

Full Time

Shift: 3rd Shift / Overnight 10pm – 6am
Location: Elizabethtown, PA

 

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused 3rd Shift Jockey Driver to join our team. The Jockey Driver is responsible for moving trailers within the yard, positioning equipment at loading docks, and ensuring the efficient flow of trailers for warehouse and shipping operations. This role is critical to maintaining safe and organized yard operations during overnight hours.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a yard jockey / terminal tractor to move trailers within the yard.
  • Position trailers at assigned dock doors for loading and unloading.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment and trailers.
  • Communicate with Shipping/Receiving staff and dispatch to ensure accurate trailer placement.
  • Maintain an organized and safe trailer yard.
  • Perform routine safety yard and trailer checks and report equipment issues immediately, including Fuel levels on all reefer trailers.
  • Verify trailer numbers and documentation when required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and yard traffic regulations.
  • Assist with basic yard organization and trailer inventory when needed.
  • Communicate with fellow jockey drivers to ensure all scheduled shifts are covered, including if weekend coverage or on call is needed.
  • Schedule availability to cover 12 hour shifts when needed (vacations, sick time)


Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL required
  • Previous experience operating a yard jockey, terminal tractor, or tractor-trailer preferred.
  • Ability to work overnight / 3rd shift hours, with potential overtime to cover other yard jockey
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions in varying weather.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment frequently.



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb in and out of yard trucks multiple times per shift.

Pay:  $25.00 per hour

Overtime: time and a half after 40 hours
